Wispr Flow alternative
A Wispr Flow alternative that does voice typing and everything after it
A Wispr Flow alternative that dictates into any app on Windows and Mac and also fixes, translates and rewrites the text you already have. Voice typing with AI clean-up, free plan included.
Wispr Flow does one thing well: you hold a key, talk, and clean text appears where your cursor is. If dictation is the whole job, it is a good tool.
KeyShift includes the same kind of voice typing, and treats it as one entry point among several. Dictate the first draft, then select it and make it shorter, more formal or translated, with the same app and the same shortcuts. Or skip the voice and fix the sentence you already typed.
What Wispr Flow is built around
- Push-to-talk dictation with automatic formatting of what you said.
- A subscription priced for dictation volume.
- Voice as the only way in: text you already have on screen is not its job.
What KeyShift does instead
- Voice input with AI clean-up. Press Ctrl+Shift+M, talk, and the transcript is tidied (filler words out, punctuation in) before you insert it. 50+ languages, detected automatically.
- Dictate then shape. Say the rough idea, select it, press Ctrl+Shift+A and choose Make professional or Shorten. Two steps, one tool.
- Fix what is already there. Select a paragraph someone else wrote and summarize it, translate it or draft a reply.
- Your own key or a local model on Pro, so dictation can run on your own account at provider cost.
- Free plan with every tool, including voice, so you can try it on a real day of work before paying.

How KeyShift works, in any app
- Quick Actions: select text, press Ctrl+Shift+A (⌘⇧A on Mac), pick an action. The result replaces the selection.
- The typed trigger: write normally, add keyshift plus your instruction, press space twice. No selection, no shortcut.
- Voice (Ctrl+Shift+M), text from screen (Ctrl+Shift+O) and clipboard history (Ctrl+Shift+V) for the text you do not have yet.
- Undo any replacement with Ctrl+Shift+Z, up to 20 steps.
Windows 10 and later, macOS 11 and later, and Android. See the getting started guide.
Questions people ask
How good is the dictation accuracy?
Transcription uses current speech models with automatic language detection, then an AI pass that removes filler words and fixes punctuation. Say "insert" style corrections and the clean-up handles them.
Can I dictate in one language and insert in another?
Yes. Dictate in Italian and run Translate on the result, or use a custom action that transcribes and translates in one go.
Does voice typing use my credits?
Each dictation counts as one AI action. The Free plan has 25 a month, Pro has 10,000, and with your own key on Pro there is no cap from us.
Try it in your own apps
